The Tarnol Police arrested three men when they were trying to snatch a taxicab, a police spokesman said.
The arrested men were wanted by police in several heinous crimes.
DSP (Saddar Circle) Jameel Hashmi said that three men — Anwer Saeed, Tariq Mehmood and Muhammad Sajjad — residents of Dhoke Paracha, Rawalpindi, booked a taxi from Ghausia Adda, Pirwadhai, for Bhandana Kalan, Tarnol, on Tuesday afternoon.
He said that as they reached near Tarnol, they whipped out their daggers and asked the driver to leave the driving seat, adding that on his resistance, the suspects tortured him and put him on rear seat after tying his hands and legs with rope.
Meanwhile, passers-by noticed their suspicious activities and informed police, the DSP said, adding that a police team, patrolling in the area, rushed to the scene and intercepted the taxi, arrested the carjackers and recovered the driver. |
