In an emergent meeting presided over by its president Dr Tariq Mahmood, the Super-classical Homoeopathic Association Rawalpindi thanked the NA Standing Committee on Health for withdrawing the proposal to disallow homoeopathic doctors to use Doctor as a prefix, says a press release.
The meeting took note of services of homoeopathic doctors for providing cheaper and effective treatment to patients for more than 150 years the world over. They said that in Pakistan more than 50% patients prefer homoeopathic treatment and many terminal cases have been cured. Vice president Dr Mohammad Sajjad Khan said that homoeo doctors are even on the panels of doctors for employees of different organizations.
Prof Dr Ishrat Naeem Bhatti said that according to Drugs Act 1965, homoeopaths can use Doctor with their names. Dr Hazeefa Ansari said that this mode of treatment is popular worldwide for centuries and the proposal against them was the brainchild of some international drug mafia floated with ulterior motives. The meeting expressed its resolve to aggressively fight any move against the noble profession. |
