The recent rain brought new varieties of umbrellas in main and small markets of the twin cities and the sale of these items witnessed immense increase in the recent days.
It has been observed that people, who do not have umbrellas, have thronged the umbrella sellers in the rain day but have to pay high prices in most of the cases as the umbrellas sellers take the advantage of the situation. Haq Nawaz, a daily commuter, while talking to the agency termed umbrella as the most wanted item in the rainy day, adding without it, it would be difficult for him to perform his daily routine work.
Some people complained that the sellers exploited the situation and demanded high prices of umbrellas and alleged that even defective items also being sold under the cover of rainy weather.
Aslam Khan, a seller, has rejected the allegations of selling umbrella on higher rates, saying there is not much margin in that business. |
