The Health Directorate of the CDA has warned the food vendors selling cooked food, fruit chaat, tea stalls, fish and chicken sellers to follow the instructions of the new health visions of CDA.
The operation against vendors selling substandard food items has been launched by the new Health Officer CDA Dr Hasan Orooj, former Deputy Director General Ministry of Health.
Dr Orooj talking to APP said that the new Health Vision was launched on the directive of the CDA chairman. He said that safe healthy practice requires massive behavioural change. The fish sellers and vendors were advised to use glass-frames their fish on sale instead of keeping in open to avoid exposure from bees and insects.
Dr Orooj in this regard has given one week’s time to the stallholders to buy glass-frames. He instructed the vendors to bring fresh fish for consumption of the clients. The fish according to him is the most important part of the biological chain. Fish absorbs deleterious materials disposed in the river and sea and when consumed by humans can lead to serious and dangerous illnesses, which may not be less than cancer, he said.
The fish sellers were instructed to use glass frames to keep the fish to be sold in order to avoid exposure to bees and insects.
Chicken sellers were also given a short lecture to use face masks in order to avoid danger of transmission of bird diseases to humans.
He said that he will ensure the valid vaccination against Typhoid and Cholera of the vendors, otherwise challans will be served and fines will be imposed.
He said the significant characteristic of this action was that the actions were taken on the spot and food vendors were simultaneously given awareness to bring about behavioural change. |
