Commodore Syed Bashir Ahmad SI(M) and Commodore Waseem Akram SI(M) have been promoted to the rank of Rear Admiral with immediate effect, Pakistan Navy said in a Press release issued here on Monday.
Rear Admiral Syed Bashir Ahmad SI(M) was commissioned in Pakistan Navy in Dec 1982. He is a submariner and specialist in underwater warfare. The officer has qualified PN Staff Course in 1995 and has done Armed Forces War course from national Defence University, Islamabad in 2004. He is MSc in War Studies.
The Rear Admiral has held various important operations and staff appointments during his 28 years commissioned service. Important field assignments include Fleet Submarine Officer, Commanding Officer of PN Submarine Shushuk and commander chief of naval staff (operations & plans) at Naval Headquarters.
Presently he is performing the duties of commander PN War College.
Rear Admiral Waseem Akram SI(M) joined Pakistan Navy in 1978 and was commissioned in Ops Branch in 1982. He joined Pakistan Naval Aviation in 1987. During his illustrious career, the officer has served onboard ships and Aviation units in various capacities.
Commodore Waseem was appointed as Commander of Auxiliary and Mine Warfare Squadron in 2007. After completing his command in 2008, the officer assumed the duties of director general of Naval Intelligence, the position the continues to hold till to-date.
